Summary
At the far edge of an unexplored continent lies Oldenlandt, an eternal winter landscape with its Grand Duke Giesel Zvendard. Horrified by Giesel’s coldness and great power, coupled with his reputed source of monster-blood, everyone fears him. However few know this, Giesel’s true desire is for a peaceful existence in which he can delve into his magical research while sipping tea in his private chamber; his one wish to live in peace is suddenly dashed when he receives an unexpected bride from the southern lands of Cornia.
Rensley Mallosen, a young knight and the illegitimate son of Cornia’s final ruler, is dressed in his sister’s veil on what should have been her wedding day, but instead, he is her fiancé. Initially attempting to keep his true identity hidden, Rensley soon begins to roam the halls and rooms of the castle, and everywhere he goes, he breaks up the monotonous silence that has long been part of the ice fortress’ daily activity. Giesel should have had every right to throw Rensley out for being married under false pretences; instead, he found himself caring for Rensley, who had a bright personality, sunny golden hair and an infectious charisma, even for a simple gesture of kindness.
Having been rejected by his family from the time of his birth, Rensley saw Oldenlandt as his only option.
