Summary
Throughout her life in Joseon, Yun Jini believed there was only one man in the world, the king. However, now a new chambermaid assigned to guard the royal bedchamber, she starts to awaken to feelings she never dared to call desire. But in a palace where love and even most freedoms were luxuries no court lady could afford, her fate turned darker still. Accused of treason and forced to flee, Jini falls into a pond and sinks quickly toward death. “I don’t want to die like this!” She pleads, and the waters respond. The mysterious waters don’t lead her to the afterlife, but across time itself, and into 21st-century Korea. Suddenly, in a space rich with freedom she could never imagine, Jini has an opportunity to love for the first time. For the first time, emotions she has cloistered are released, and a woman raised in duty and fear starts to discover what it means to be alive… and to love.
